Never Give Up – You’ve Got This!

Never Give Up – You’ve Got This!

“Never Give Up – You’ve Got This!” by Joan Y. Edwards

Have you ever felt like giving up? Have you felt that life is too complicated to figure out. Have thoughts gone through your mind that all of your efforts are creating no progress toward your goals. Have you thought that you may as well give up.  I’ve felt like that. It is no fun. It is scary. However, keep believing in you. Keep on doing what you believe is the right thing to do. Do short tasks you usually frown on doing. Accomplish a small, simple task. It will help your self-esteem and calm your nerves

Wash the dishes.
Wash clothes.
Weed your garden.

Weed your inner garden, too. Replace negative words with positive ones.

Instead of saying, I can’t, shout out, “I’M GETTING BETTER EACH DAY. I’ve Got This!”

Instead of saying, no one hears me, shout out, “God understands me. I don’t have to worry about anyone else.”

Instead of saying, no one loves me, shout out, “God loves me. I love me. Loving myself and others brings loving people and situations to me.”

Instead of saying, “I need control of this situation,” take a deep breath. Say, “It’s okay that I don’t have control over this situation. God has control over it. He is going to help me. He is going to bring good out of everything.”

Focus on what you are thankful for:

Say I am thankful for a bed to sleep in.
I am thankful for food to eat.
I am thankful for family and friends.
I am thankful for people who mow my grass and weed my flowers.
I am thankful for doctors, nurses, technicians, and others in hospitals and rehab centers.
I am thankful for people who understand me.

It is healthy to say what you are afraid of. It gets it out in the open for you to ponder. There may be a thousand people who are afraid of the same thing as you are or you may be the only one who is afraid of what scares you. It’s okay. It’s okay for you to be scared. Your emotions are real.

Many times your fears are based on what you perceive situations to be rather than based on facts. They may be based on what you think will happen. They may be based on what you think other people are thinking and what their intentions are, when your interpretations may not be correct or true at all. Then again, they could be true. Just ponder other possibilities.

Instead of being extremely angry, perhaps you’re just a little ticked off.

Instead of being deathly afraid, perhaps you’re just a little afraid.

If you are overwhelmed by things that have piled up on you, lighten your load. Write them down on separate slips of paper and lay them out on a table. Just do the essentials for as many minutes as you can…10 minutes, 15 minutes, or take an hour off from your duties. Put off doing what doesn’t have to be done in the next hour. This may help take a load off of your mind and emotions.

Lighten your words and it may lighten your emotions.

Discover new things that fill you with joy. Do things in a different order or at a different time. If you usually get up late in the morning, get up early and watch the sun rise. If you usually get up really early, sleep late. Perhaps you’re not getting enough sleep.

Read a good book. Perhaps read one you’ve read before. Each time you read a book, you’ll discover something you missed the first time you read it.

Work a wordsearch or crossword puzzle. Put together a jigsaw puzzle.

Help someone else.

Listen to your favorite music. Talk to a friend. Sit in a corner and pray. Talk with God. He is a good listener.

I am praying for you. God is listening. He hears your prayer. He hears my prayer. We are lucky.

Never Give Up. You’ve Got This!

  1. Praying, leaning on the Lord, and praising Him for helping us through things that overwhelm us is always what God desires for us to do.

Thanks for the encouraging words. Even though I love myself, treat others kindly, etc. the world can be cruel and friends are not always on your page. I keep smiling.
I do need to accept that i may never sell any books-even though I believe they are worthy and beautiful and have a soul of their own.
God may answer my prayers so will leave it up to him. One thing is for sure-everyone who has read my books tells me wonderful things and I don’t think they are lying.
My children are my heroes and I write for them. I think about their cute little cherub faces and that guides me forward with stories. So be it. Thank you. Bless you.
