7 Ways to Get Your Words to Flow

“7 Ways to Get Your Words to Flow” by Joan Y. Edwards

Here are 7 ways to get your words to flow into a manuscript:

1. Take pictures. Pictures will help you describe things and people easier in your manuscript. Plus, they make wonderful emotional memories in your heart to use later. I saved this compass drawing I did in 1951. My teacher chose it to put on the bulletin board. First and only art work that was displayed because of its merit. I loved those colors a that time.

2. Brainstorm new ideas – Think of all the obstacles that could keep your main character from achieving his goals. Figure out a twist that makes your story stand out from the rest. Figure out a way for your character to react in a different way to his circumstances. Be creative.

3.  Read 100 books in the genre you’re writing. This will lead you to knowing what makes a great book. You’ll know what to do and what not to do.

4. Talk with your family and friends. Observe them and strangers. From listening and observing them you will learn how to touch the heartstrings of your readers.

5. Eat healthy tasty food. Consider creating a new healthy dish that’s still delicious.

6. Take time to help someone else. When you help others, you are also helping yourself. It’s a double blessing.

7. Do something to celebrate you! You are an awesome creation of God. Walk. Run. Jump. Dance. Write. Sing. Talk. Listen. Paint. Clean. Laugh. You deserve the best!
