“Seattle, Washington with My Sister, Judith” by Joan Y. Edwards
In the summer of 2010 I had the good fortune of visiting with my sister, Judith and her family a couple of hours away from Seattle, Washington. I love ducks. I wrote and illustrated a book about a little duck, Flip Flap Floodle. Even mean ole Mr. Fox can’t stop this little duck. He never gives up.
I thought it would be fun to join the Ride the Ducks tour on land and water. My sister and her son, Mike, his wife Carla, their son, Kevin, and his girlfriend, Ashley joined me in the venture. It is both a bus and a boat. As we went through the streets of Seattle, the guide told us to put our right arm up high and pull it down and say, “Ka-Ching” each time we saw a Starbucks Coffee shop. Oh my goodness. We must have seen over 100 Starbucks locations. Starbucks started out in Seattle. They also told us about other fun things throughout the city including the Century Link stadium where the Seattle Seahawks play.

My favorite part of the ride was going out onto the beautiful calm waters of Lake Union.
I hope you get a chance to do something fun and even a bit quacky next time you go on vacation. Laughter heals and gives you great memories. It’s a great day when you have fun, especially with with your family.
