Keep on Going. You Can Do It.

“Keep on Going. You Can Do It.” by Joan Y. Edwards

Sometimes you may feel on top of the world. Those are great days. Some days you may not be feeling your best.  You may be sad. Here are a few thoughts to help put you on top of your world. During the last month I have felt so blessed. There are days I’ve gone around singing: “God, you are so good. Thank you. I am so blessed. Thank you.”

Here are a few quotes I found that I believe will help you climb up on top of your world!

Renew, release, let go. Yesterday’s gone. There’s nothing you can do to bring it back. You can’t “should’ve” done something. You can only DO something. Renew yourself. Release that attachment. Today is a new day!
Steve Maraboli

If you don’t think every day is a great day try going without one.
Jim Evans

Every morning, my dad would have me looking in the mirror and repeat, ‘Today is going to be a great day; I can, and I will.’
Gina Rodriguez

How could you have had such a wonderful life as me if there wasn’t a God directing?
Maureen O’Hara

Be true to yourself, help others, make each day your masterpiece, make friendship a fine art, drink deeply from good books – especially the Bible, build a shelter against a rainy day, give thanks for your blessings and pray for guidance every day.
John Wooden

On the recollection of so many and great favours and blessings, I now, with a high sense of gratitude, presume to offer up my sincere thanks to the Almighty, the Creator and Preserver.
William Bartram

Don’t block your blessings. Don’t let doubt stop you from getting where you want to be.
Jennifer Hudson

When you like something and you’re pretty good at it and you can make a living doing it, you don’t ask why. You just count your blessings and go with it.
Harlan Coben

I love the novel because it’s like a love affair. You can just fall into it and keep going, and you never know where it’s going to take you.
Daniel Alarcon

Fall in love with yourself. Instead of saying, “You stupid oaf,” take a deep breath and say “I love you.”
Joan Y. Edwards

In 2014, I worked on the edits for Joan’s Elder Care Guide. It was an enlightening experience filled with much the same thing as in the quote by Daniel Alarcon about reading a novel. I just fell into it and kept going, and I never knew where the edit was going to take me. I knew that God was leading me. At times, I got very discouraged, but I knew ultimately that this book was going to help many people, so I kept on going.

Sometimes in your life, you take time to help others. Friends or family…your spouse, parents, and/or children. In all of this, remember to take care of you. Yes, the others are important. However, if you don’t take care of yourself, you will not be able to take care of anyone.

Be sure to take time for you personally. Not only for your writing or your job, whatever that is, but take time to relax. Time to eat your favorite foods. Time to do your favorite things alone, or with your family and friends. Take time to live. I believe that each of us has only one lifetime. Live each day as best you can. If you can’t muster up a smile today. It’s okay. Love yourself. Accept yourself as you are right now. You’ll feel better tomorrow. Whatever is facing you, you’ll live through it. Believe in you.

Please leave a comment telling me what keeps you going in tough times. What activities help you fall in love with “you.”
