The Golden Chain of Friendship
by Helen Steiner Rice
The links are friends so dear,
And like a rare and precious jewel
It’s treasured more each year…
It’s clasped together firmly
With a love that’s deep and true,
And it’s rich with happy memories
and fond recollections, too…
Time can’t destroy its beauty
For, as long as memory lives,
Years can’t erase the pleasure
That the joy of friendship gives…
For friendship is a priceless gift
That can’t be bought or sold,
But to have an understanding friend
Is worth far more than gold…
And the Golden Chain of Friendship
Is a strong and blessed tie,
Binding kindred hearts together
As the years go passing by.
Someone gave my Mother, Ethel D. Meyer, a card with this poem on it. She loved it and read it out loud to me. So I put it in a frame for her to enjoy in her room.
I am sharing it with you so that you can be thankful for all the friends you treasure as the years go passing by.
Many relatives are friends, too.
I am sharing this to thank you for being my friend, though we may not have met in person, we have met with this blog’s pen. I love knowing you read my words and subscribe to read some more. I love hearing what you think. I wish you the best life has to give. Live your life with joy! All Love and friendship is a gift from God to us to help us living.
