“Do Something Fun Today” by Joan Y. Edwards
Do something fun today before midnight because you don’t want to wait another day without having fun!
Take five minutes for fun., right now. If you can’t do it now, plan to do something fun before you go to bed.
It is especially important to do something fun each day when you are under great stress. It releases the tension built up in your body and releases good endorphins into your system that calms your nerves. These feel-good chemicals can help ease both physical and emotional pain. If you don’t believe you can do something fun, a good cry levels your emotions and also puts good endorphins into your body to calm your mind and spirit.
What is fun? According to Bing’s search online: As a noun, fun means enjoyment, amusement, or lighthearted pleasure.
It’s amazing that flowers have such a strong will to live that they grow in places people say they can’t grow or won’t grow.
Blow bubbles of happiness into the air! Some bubbles break into two bubbles. Some soar high into the air. The bubbles display colors to brighten your day!
Enjoy being you.
Be thankful for all you have! A bed to sleep in. Food to eat. People who love and care about you.
A sense of humor.
A sense of well-being even if you are not well.
A sense of calm…knowing that you are doing the best you can do with all the skills, knowledge, and beliefs that you have at this very moment. Rejoice!
What is fun for another person may not be fun for you, and that is okay. However, many people enjoy the same things as their friends.
Here are things I enjoy:
Blowing bubbles.
Watching a romantic comedy movie, like The Proposal.
Watching Matlock, Columbo, Monk, and Diagnosis Murder with Dick Van Dyke.
Listening to music from the 50’s and 60’s.
Talking to my family and friends in person, on the phone, message, and email.
Eating with friends and family.
Singing.
Praying.
Going to church.
Reading a book.
Working a wordsearch or crossword puzzle.
Writing a chapter for a book.
Writing a blog post.
Receiving a comment on my blog.
Receiving a letter or card by U.S. Mail.
Drawing and painting a picture or illustration.
Getting a new subscriber.
Spending time at Tybee Island, at the beach in North and South Carolina.
Spending time in the mountains.
Seeing a beautiful sunrise or sunset.
Watching a funny commercial. Here are two of my favorites:
- Geico – Hump Day Commercial
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=udGdavg3faQ - Liberty Mutual Bad Job – Liberty Bibberty

Please share what you like to do for fun! I’d love to hear from you.

Yippee! I’m having fun, or about to have fun. Booked tomorrow as a vacation day so I have three days off for reading, writing and possibly a little tomfoolery. 🙂
Dear Melanie,
Thought I’d responded to you. So sorry that the comment elf ate it. I will try again.
I’m glad you took off a vacation day so you’d have 3 days off for reading, writing, and possibly a little tomfoolery. I especially like the tomfoolery!

I loved the picture of the kitty playing with a flower growing in a crack. What a fun thing to see. As for fun, sometimes it’s the smallest things that make a difference like seeing the sky return to blue with white fluffy clouds. That’s what happened late yesterday afternoon. Thanks for the reminder to have fun.
Love you,
Linda
Dear Linda,
Thank you for writing. I’m glad you loved the image of the kitten playing with a flower growing in a crack. That’s true. Once you start looking for something fun, it appears in tiny ways to fill your soul with calmness and peace. During that moment, you’ve forgotten your troubles and transcended that moment of pain and sorrow.
Do something fun today!
Never Give Up
Joan
Thanks, Joan.
It’s fun just to find out what makes you happy. Now I think I’ll sing Flip, Flap, Floodle – just for fun!
Dear Pat,
Thank you for writing. You are right. It is fun to find out what makes you happy. I’ll sing Flip Flap Floodle with you right now, just for fun! A duet!
