“Do it, Anyway” by Joan Y. Edwards

If someone says, “You can’t do that! There is not way.”
Believe in yourself. Do it. anyway! Succeed. anyway.
Inventors know this secret. If people don’t believe it can be done, do it anyway. if someone says, “There is no way you can do that, do it anyway., If you need a certain thing to do something and you don’t have it and can’t figure out how to get it, figure out a different way to do it!

Not everyone’s way is the same. But they may accomplish the same goal. It is wisdom and comforting when you discover that everyone doesn’t do it your way and your way still works out okay.

If you think you need someone to help you and you ask and everyone says, “No,” Figure out a way. Do it anyway.
The Little Red Hen
The little red hen asks, “Who will help me plant the wheat?”
“Not I!”aid the cat.
“Not I!”said the dog
“Not I!” said the mouse.”
The little red hen says, “Then I will do it myself.”
They won’t water, cut, or grind the wheat . . . or help bake a cake with it, either. So the little red hen eats it herself. Because they won’t help with anything to prepare the food, when she bakes the bread, she eats it herself.

  1. My 4-y-old grandson responded to my “I don’t think you can do that puzzle” with, “I can do it!” and he did!!! (although the 300 piece box he took out was a little too much for him…)

    1. Dear Carol,
Thank you for writing. It is good that your grandson has a firm belief in his ability to work puzzles. How awesome is that!!! Look at how you were a good example for him
by not giving up on your book Half-Truths even though it took longer than you thought. You didn’t give up. You believed you could do it. May God continue to bless you and your grandson and the rest of your family!

  2. Naysayers can be envious, secretly want someone not to succeed, just plain overbearing, and not creative thinkers. So, just do it without their input.
Good post, Joan E. Edwards! 👍⭐️😊

    1. Dear Joan Reid,
Thank you for writing! Ah! That is a good point! Others could be jealous so they say you can’t do it. In their experience they may not have seen it done. Or other reasons.
Good luck in all your adventures. May you feel empowered to do what you really want to accomplish.

  3. Your message touched me on different levels. Determination yes, but also managing my own thoughts. Mainly doubt. Which opens the door to uncertainty, and can freeze me in my tracks. There’s intellectual doubt — like answering a tricky math problem. Then there’s that inner doubt. The emotional side.
But your message says when in doubt build a list of alternative solutions. THAT gets the brain involved – not just the heart.
And it can unfreeze me – get me moving towards a course of action, getting me back in control and moving forward, not being blocked by the attitudes of others, or my own inner voices.

    1. Dear Bill,
Thank you for writing. I am glad that my words spoke to you on different levels. That inner voice can be a powerful one fueled in negative thoughts and doubt by early voices before the age of reason or because of traumatic events in our lives. They want to protect us but don’t realize we will be okay because we have a better belief system. Our perceptions of what early events meant to us may be correct or they could be flawed. Being human is not easy. However, when we look for alternative meanings and alternative ways to accomplish our goals and overcome our fears and doubts, it sometimes opens up a whole new world of possibilities. Hope is big and powerful emotion. May it lead you to take away your doubts and fill you with peace and energize you to the finish line of accomplishment. May God send you beacons of hope to light your way.

      Never Give Up
      Believe in you
      Joan
