Be Excited Each Day to Work on Your Goals

“Be Excited Each Day to Work on Your Goals,” by Joan Y. Edwards

Be Excited Each Day to Work on Your Goals
Check your progress every month.
Today’s Sunday, October 25, 2020.
Almost the end of the month.
List your accomplishments this month.
  1. What gave you joy this month?
  2. What you want to do more of next month?
  3. What did you feel so strong about that you did it every day?
  4. What are your long term goals?
    • Did you do anything towards them this month?
    • If so, Yay!
    • If not, why not? What was your excuse? Knock that excuse off the table.
Do at least one thing – take a tiny step toward your goal every day!!! There is no excuse for not taking action steps towards your goal. Be excited that you are alive and can take steps towards your goal. Say to yourself: I can do this.
You owe it to yourself!
You will make it.
Keep on believing in you and be excited to work on each step even if it’s scary. Courage is doing something even if it scares you.
Reward yourself after you take action. It is important and sets you up for success in accomplishing your dreams. Your reward can be as simple as a cup of hot coffee or a walk outdoors for 10 minutes. You decide.
They say it helps us keep our promises to ourselves if we tell someone what we are going to do. Feel free to tell your best friend what you are going to do. That will help you keep your promise.  They can encourage you on the way.
You can also share your goal plans with me in the comment area. or by email: joanyedwards1@gmail.com.
Hearing from you makes me smile.
Sincerely,
Never Give Up

  1. My achievement in the past month has been to climb partway up the long slope toward recovery from my exciting event in hospital when only the rapid action of a bunch of doctors and nurses saved my life. If you want a laugh about it, read this:

I have set myself the goal of returning to my previous level of functioning by December 31, so your words of encouragement are very welcome.
I include you in the list of people I send metta to during my nightly meditation.
    🙂
    Bob

    1. Dear Bob,
Thank you for writing. I am very glad that you are alive and still here living and breathing! Most Important! Glad the doctors and nurses were observant, skillful, and efficient. Thank you, God for sending these people to save Bob Rich’s life.

Thank you for sharing the link to the story about this procedure.
Thank you for adding my name to those you think of and wish good things for when you meditate.

We have been friends since 2010, I believe. I am glad you are still here.

  2. Joan,

I smiled when I saw your approach to excuses—knock them off the table!

I am pleased with the yard work I’ve done this month. I have also decided to take proactive steps for better health in 2020.

Thanks for your encouraging us on our journeys.

    1. Dear Linda,
Thank you for writing. I am especially glad that my approach to excuses – knock them off the table made you smile.
I am glad that you’re pleased with the yard work you’ve done this month. So happy that you’ve decided to take proactive steps for better health in 2020. That is always a good idea. Promoting good health makes you happy and keeps you living!

You are welcome for my encouraging you on your journey. It is my pleasure to be here with you. Thanks for being with me on my life’s journey, too.

  3. Dear Joan,
It was so nice to hear from you.
You asked the following questions, and here they are along with my answers.

What gave you joy this month?
    * Having made and reached my goal of getting my latest crime novella published as an e-book and as a paperback.

What you want to do more of next month?
    * Getting the book converted to an audiobook as well as continue with a book my kids wanted me to write, and earn enough money to get them what they want and need i.e. laptops to do their school work on (especially since we can go into isolation on short notice, a lot of homework is now being done remotely).

What did you feel so strong about that you did it every day?
    * I used to be tempted to procrastinate, and then 35yrs ago, I got into the habit of being more organized, and had a diary (akin to a FRANKLIN) and was able to accomplish many things. But with the adversities over the last two years, I was starting to lose faith and stamina. – Then I remembered an old Chinese proverb “Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars.” So I forgot about not getting any work (I work from home), and sat down and got back to my creative writing. Now I want to continue down that path.

What are your long term goals?
    * To make a living writing and help others make their dreams come true.
Did you do anything towards them this month?

    1. Dear Helgi,
Thank you very much for writing. I am so happy that you got your latest crime novel published as am ebook and a paperback! Wow! That is a great accomplishment. It is a noble goal to get funds to help your children get laptops they need to do their schoolwork. I’m glad you are going to have your book fixed as an audio book. It will be great to see their eyes light up when you achieve this goal. I like your Chinese proverb. Very good advice. Good luck with your next adventures! I hope to hear from you again.

    1. Dear Carol,
Thank you for writing. I am glad that you took a bunch of writing classes on plot and one on poetry. You can add a poem to your latest novel in the works or get your poems published, too. Taking courses is empowering. Awesome. I am happy for you!

  4. HI Joan,
Thank you once again for this important reminder. I’ve been working on our new Firebird Book Awards with all of the proceeds going to the children’s hospital charity where we make and send fun and colorful handmade pillowcases to sick children in hospitals. All authors are welcome to submit their work – and if anyone knows of any people or groups that have sewing groups, I could sure use some pillowcase making help.

You are the best, Joan. It’s always a nice break for me to read your blog.
    Love,
    Pat

    1. Dear Pat, Thanks for writing and sharing about your Firebird Book Awards contest. It is definitely helping a worthy cause. Pillowcases send to children in hospitals is so sweet. Thanks for saying it’s always a nice break to read my blog. My mission is to uplift people and encourage them on life’s path, to help them feel good about themselves and let them know that they can do all things with God’s help and their faith in themselves. I love knowing you! You make me smile.

Thanks for the encouraging post. I have written a How To Series on my author blog. Have you ever wanted to write a novel?

It takes you from beginning to the end ready to publish. The 5 week course is for beginners and college graduates. It’s FREE and readable right from my blog per your phone or laptop. Donations are accepted if you feel compelled. Pass it forward.

I learned from the internet, mostly it’s kind, but sometimes it can be hell not knowing what you are doing or who you can trust. This would have helped me to focus and get down to business. I did it. You can too!

    1. Dear Kim,
Thanks for writing. Thanks for sharing about your blog under the name of Caroline Clemens. That sounds like a great course and will help many people. Have you had a few or many to join you or do you have a way to figure that out? I am proud of you for taking the initiative to write a novel and also to share how you do it with others. Awesome!

    1. Dear Melanie,
Thank you for writing. I’m glad that you thought this post was fantastic! Aww! So sweet of you to say that. Thanks for sharing your goal of getting back to work consistently on your current work in progress, Book 3 of “It Happened” series. You, go, Melanie. You can do this! I believe in you! You can do this.
