“When You Suffer a Loss” by Joan Y. Edwards

When someone you love is no longer with you,
tell God and let it go.

When things aren’t like they used to be,
tell God and let it go.

When people don’t understand what you’re saying,
tell God and let it go.

When you feel unimportant,
tell God and let it go.

When your dreams seem unreachable,
tell God and let it go.

When your house seems cluttered,
tell God and let it go.

When you discover that those you love are not who you thought they were, smile, say, “They’re human. I’m human,”
tell God and let it go.

When the chores seem many and the energy seems low, move around for ten minutes,
tell God and let it go.

When you aren’t who you used to be, shed a tear,
tell God and let it go.

When you feel sorry for yourself, choose how long you’re going to do this: 3 minutes, 3 hours. or 3 days,
tell God, and let it go.

Love yourself the way you are.
Love those who disappoint you.
Love those who anger you.
Accept yourself and others as you are.
Relinquish control to God. Let things go into His Loving Hands.
Ask God to help you. He will help you.
He will straighten everything out. He has a plan for you.

Thank you for reading my blog.  May God bless you in a way that you know it was him helping you see things in a better light. He will give you wisdom, understanding, and love. He will help you smile in the face of your losses!

  1. I think that “letting go” part is hard to do. Sometimes it takes years. It really means giving up on dreams, bitterness, resentment, etc etc. You know… Thanks for your post.

    1. Dear Carol,
You are right. Letting go is hard to do and may take years. I pray that your load is lightened by your ability to let go of things that hinder your happiness!

  2. Thank you so much for this beautiful post and reminding us the best way to deal with what lays heavy on our hearts/in our minds. By telling God and letting go our souls and emotional baggage become so much lighter and possible to carry onward.

    1. Dear Kathleen,
Thank you for writing. I am glad that this post helped remind you to tell God and let go. Telling God doesn’t seem hard, but the letting go can be troublesome!
