“Parenting Your Parent Workshop Held” by Joan Y. Edwards
Pat Mayhew with the North Carolina Family Caregiver Support Program and Nina Arten with the Shepherd’s Center of Charlotte conducted a Caregiver Workshop, “Parenting Your Parent” on November 10, 2018. Only $25.00. They gave copies of Joan’s Elder Care Guide as door prizes for participants. I discussed how I came to be a caregiver, shared the importance of the caregivers taking care of themselves, and also talked about the signs of the end of life.
PARENTING YOUR PARENTS WORKSHOP Are you managing your life AND your parents’ lives? When did you become the parent of your parents? If this sounds like you, plan to join us to discuss ways to navigate this somewhat complicated life experience. The Day included:
- Breakout sessions featuring five experts in their field:
Financial issues, needs and plans Social isolation When roles change (That’s my presentation.) Managing the mechanics of a move Caregiving roadmap
- A panel discussion with all experts for Questions & Answers
- Service providers will be on site to provide information about specific life stages and related needs (Hospice, VA, SHIIP (North Carolina’s Senior Health, Insurance Information Program), Social Security, etc.)
