4 Steps to Success

“4 Steps to Success” by Joan Y. Edwards

To me there are four steps to success: Gratitude, Education, Motivation, and Faith. Here are a few concepts that might help fill you with the confidence you need to take steps of wisdom toward more success in your life, both small successes and big successes. They are all possible. Mark 11:24 “Believe and it shall be granted unto you.

1. What you are thankful for, you get more of. Every morning give thanks to God for everything you are grateful for. List them. Make it a litany (a long list).

a.  Every morning give thanks to God for all of your many skills. List them. Make it a litany (a long list)

b. Thank God for every job he has ever given you. Thank all the people who have helped you in your life. Thank all the people who have given you the opportunity to interview for a job with them.  Thank all the people you have worked for. You can do this on paper, email, phone or by prayer with God.

2. God is loving. (Deuteronomy 7:9).

He wants you to be happy. He wants you to have money for the things you need, for the things you want, and especially money to help others. My personal belief is that when you are a good steward of your money, and other resources, God will make sure you have an abundance of what you need. Think in abundance.

3. Power for everything comes from God and flows in you, through you, to create what you visualize, what you believe to honor him.

2Chronicles 16:9 “For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.”

I love the quote of Ralph Waldo Emerson: “Do the thing and the energy will come to do the thing.”  Remember the time when you stayed up with a sick child. God sent the energy to you and through you to help you and your child.

Scientifically, what you send out is what you receive.  If your brain sends out negative thoughts, you will receive negative. If your brain sends out positive thoughts, you will receive positive. What you focus on is what you get.

Galatians 6:7-8. You reap what you sow. What goes around, comes around. Good karma equals good karma. A good deed brings fortune; a bad deed brings misfortune.

Matthew 7:12 Golden Rule:  “Do unto others as you would them do unto you.”

4. Think about your biggest prior success:

You had an idea. You empowered yourself to believe you could do it, accomplish it, or create it. You could do it in spite of any problems that came your way.

You could accept a “Yes” or “No” answer from others.  You could do it with their support or without their support.

You knew that God was for this idea.

As long as God was happy with you, it didn’t matter what others thought.

You may have struggled with the belief that you could do this, but you conquered it. You believed with unwavering faith that you could do it. And you did it.

5. Now today. There are goals in your mind you want to reach. If you’re not getting the results you want, check your belief system. It may need a few tweaks of change here and there. I need to tweak mine every day.

Signs that your beliefs need to change. You might hear clues like this coming from your lips:

“I’ll never get a book published.”

“I always get sick in November.”

“They never get someone to relieve me for a break at work.”

Your computer in your mind wants you to be right at all costs. Be careful of what you say to yourself or to others.

I allow myself to _____________________________.

I am happy and grateful that I have ____________________.

I am happy and grateful that I am _________________________.

6. Change your fears to goals you can overcome.

Accept that it’s possible that your fear(s) may happen. Accept that it’s also possible that your fear won’t happen. God will empower you to survive either way. If you release your anxiety over your fear, you will make it less likely to happen.

7. Write your goals on 3×5 cards in the present tense, like you’ve already received it now.

I allow myself to ——————————-

I am ———————–

I have ————————-

I am happy and grateful that —————–

Don’t use the word not or never in your goals. Your mind drops out the not and never and does what you don’t want.

If there’s something you don’t want, don’t put it in your goal. Put what you want in your goal as already received.

Don’t put the word want in your goal. Want means you don’t have it and can’t get it.

Don’t put the word expect in your goal. Expect is in the future. However, what you expect is a guide to your beliefs.

8. Books and Other Resources to Educate and Motivate you.

All of these books might not speak to you. However, there are many good thoughts in these books to feed your thirst for success. These are listed in the order my husband, Carl and I studied them.

The Secret – Rhonda Byrne (DVD extended version –http://www.amazon.com/Secret-Extended-Harrington-Heriot-Director/dp/1906030944/) and book – http://www.amazon.com/Secret-Rhonda-Byrne/dp/1582701709/

Hale Dwoskin: The Sedona Method (There are books, CDs, and DVDs) – http://www.amazon.com/Sedona-Method-Happiness-Emotional-Well-Being/dp/0971933413/To help release the negative emotions; help let go of things you cannot control; self-acceptance; acceptance of others. It is only in accepting of ourselves and others that change is possible.  When you let go of the negative emotions, many times you heal your body and mind. My husband, Carl and I have studied the Sedona Method for 2 years. It helps you to be at peace with yourself and your decisions. It helps you to be happier. When you are happier, more good things happen to you. And you are also able to handle the negative things better so they don’t drain you. It helps you release your negative emotions so they don’t lead you astray.

Bob Proctor: You Were Born Rich – http://www.amazon.com/You-Were-Born-Rich-Proctor/dp/1920909028/ My husband, Carl and I have studied Bob Proctor’s book, cds, and DVDs for about 6 months. Bob Proctor tells us that God gives us minds that work remarkably well to help us create things other people may say is impossible. He explains how your conscious and subconscious mind works.

William Arthur Ward said,  “If you can imagine it, you can achieve it; if you can dream it, you can become it.” “Four Steps to achievement: Plan purposely. Prepare prayerfully. Proceed positively. Pursue persistently.” (I found these two quotes at Thinkexist.com)

Bob Proctor tells about Maxwell Maltz, Wallace D. Wattles, and Napoleon Hill.

Maxwell Maltz, Psycho Cybernetics (Mind Steering) – http://www.amazon.com/Psycho-Cybernetics-New-More-Living-Life/dp/0671700758

You have an automatic success mechanism. You can also have an automatic failure mechanism. What image you are sending out will come back as a reflection of your beliefs. They have one called the new Pyscho Cybernetics edited by Dan Kennedy. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0735202850/It gives examples of people who have changed their lives by changing their beliefs.

Wallace D. Wattles – The Science of Getting Rich, The Science of Being Great & The Science of Being Well

http://www.amazon.com/Wisdom-Wallace-D-Wattles-Including/dp/9562913600/ Wallace D. Wattles book the Science of Getting Rich is the basis for the movie the secret, it talks about the laws of attraction.

Napoleon Hill – Think and Grow Rich http://www.amazon.com/Think-Grow-Rich-Napoleon-Hill/dp/1612930298/ Do what you love as a service to others to grow rich.

Look for quotes at Quote Garden.com, too.

Doug Larson said, “Some of the world’s greatest feats were accomplished by people not smart enough to know they were impossible.”

Zig Ziglar said, “I don’t care how much power, brilliance or energy you have, if you don’t harness it and focus it on a specific target, and hold it there you’re never going to accomplish as much as your ability warrants.”

Jack Penn said, “One of the secrets of life is to make stepping stones out of stumbling blocks.”

All of these concepts are grounded in the Bible, even if they do not mention God or the Bible.

Luke 11:9 “Ask and you shall receive.”

Luke 7:50 “Your faith has saved you.”

Proverbs 23:7 “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he:  To me, his heart is his subconscious mind.”
